In this tutorial, you will learn how to create an API key on the DeepSeek platform and configure it in Scriptcase AI.
Chat subscription vs. DeepSeek API key
Scriptcase AI uses the DeepSeek API to communicate with the provider. Therefore, the subscription for DeepSeek’s standard chat plans is not used as credit for this integration. As a result, you do not need to have a standard chat plan to use DeepSeek in Scriptcase AI.
To configure DeepSeek in Scriptcase AI, you need to generate an API key on the DeepSeek platform and have available balance/credit in your account for API usage.
API billing is based on token consumption, and the charges are deducted from the available balance in your platform account.
Getting the DeepSeek API key

Access the DeepSeek platform with your account:

After logging in, access the API keys area.

Click the option to create a new API key.

Define a name for the key and click Create key.
The name is optional, but we recommend using an identification that makes it easier to manage the key later in the list of keys.

After generating the key, copy the displayed code and store it in a safe place.
Save the API key in a secure location. Do not share it, publish it in repositories, or send it to third parties. If you lose the key, you will need to generate a new one and update the configuration in Scriptcase AI.

Configuring DeepSeek in Scriptcase AI
1 - After logging in to Scriptcase with an administrator account, access the Tools > Scriptcase AI menu.
2 - Copy the API key generated on the DeepSeek platform and paste it into the API Key field. In this step, select the DeepSeek provider, as well as the Chat Model and Smart Tasks Model that will be used by Scriptcase AI.
If desired, also enable the option to create and translate the data dictionary automatically.
3 - Project access permissions
In the project list, define the access permissions of Scriptcase AI for each project.
Enable Code access to allow Scriptcase AI to analyze the code of the open event and assist with tasks such as explanation, review, adjustments, and code suggestions.
In addition, grant access to the connections so that Scriptcase AI can query the database structure, such as tables and fields, and use this information when generating or adjusting code.
Scriptcase AI accesses only the database structure, such as tables and fields. It does not access or read the data stored in the tables.
5 - After filling in the information and defining the desired permissions, click Save settings.
After saving, the chat and smart tasks will be available using the DeepSeek provider in Scriptcase AI.
